This week, Mary Rosenblum talks about the woes of contracts that authors should be looking out for.
If you’re self publishing, you don’t have to worry much about contracts. But if you are publishing with a small press commercial publisher, you certainly do! I’m seeing a host of really poor contracts out there and some that make the hair stand up on the back of my neck. I have at least one client who cannot get a really poorly published book taken down from Amazon so that he can edit it, clean it up, put a good cover on it, and republish. This book is going to hurt his reputation as a writer….but he’s stuck.
