Here’s the latest from our partner over at The New Writer’s Interface, Mary Rosenblum. This week, she talk about the ins and outs of book launches.
You may have noticed that I’ve been featuring accounts of various book launches in the Literary Midwife lately. I got soured on bookstore signings as a New York author, it was discouraging to sit in a mall bookstore as passers by studiously avoided eye contact and if the bookstore over-ordered your book, their returns of unsold books could actually hurt your sales numbers. So it was a minefield at best and personally torturous to a shy new author like myself.
That was long ago, I didn’t know any more about promotion than most of you do, and that was The Way It Was Done.
